RUSH BOOK PROJECTS
We are working our way through our decimals unit! Currently we are moving on from addition and subtraction of decimals and beginning to focus on multiplying whole numbers and decimals. After all the various multiplication strategies students employed in the fourth grade, in fifth grade we focus on standard algorithms. See the Topic 3 letter below from the Envisions text book. |
ScienceWe are moving in to understanding the moon and its lunar phases. Students will be tasked with keeping a moon log this week. Continue to have conversations about how the moon appears and why that may be the case! | Social StudiesWe are still hard at work understanding the ancient civilizations. Ask your student what civilization they are studying and how their awesome projects are coming along! |
Literacy
- Students have been working on 'Booktalks' and continuing to make appropriate book choices as we work together as a community of readers. Want to see their Booktalks? Click here to see the videos they created! Ask your student what he or she is currently reading in school! Would they recommend it and why?
- In Writing students have chosen their seed idea to stick with and develop into a personal narrative as we move forward with our Narrative unit. I am very excited to hear all the strong word choices and writing techniques we have been employing these past few weeks! Ask your student about his or her personal narrative idea.
- THANK YOU to Mrs. Cowell who introduced our class to several exciting books from the library. After our class voted, our next read aloud will be Restart by Gordon Korman.
